About The Gilmanton Community Church The Gilmanton Community Church is just that - a community church comprised of people from different Christian traditions. We are located in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. We are one congregation with two church buildings - one on Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works and one on Route 107 in Gilmanton Corner. We are dually affiliated with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches and The American Baptist Churches. We worship from January through May, October and November in the Iron Works Sanctuary and June through September and December in the Gilmanton Corner Sanctuary. Our church facilities are widely used by nonprofit groups including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H. Our facilties are available for rental. No alcohol or smoking is allowed on the premises. We dedicate or baptize infants, depending on the faith tradition of the parents. We celebrate Believer's baptism as well as Confirmation. All are invited to join us at the Lord's Table (Communion) who confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We offer four opportunities for adult bible study, an excellent Sunday School for children age 3 through youth in eighth grade. Our older youth assist in Sunday School, if they choose and also have the opportunity, once they have taken the Red Cross Class, of helping with childcare during worship. Older Youth are also invited to sing in the choir, to participate in worship, and to take an active part, as they are interested, in church ministries. Our 6th, 7th and 8th graders occasionally get together for fun & fellowship. We provide full camperships for Christian camping for children and older youth, as needed. We also have a wonderful Scholarship Fund which is available to those in our congregation (of all ages) who are going on to higher education. We send packages regularly overseas for our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. We have a Food Pantry open to the community.
We have Senior Dinner on the third Monday of each month from September through May. These are great times to meet old friends and make new ones. The food is always delicious! A free-will offering is welcome.
Our Mission Ministry Team is extremely active. We tithe 10% of our church budget to mission support as well as taking several special offerings during the year. We gave over $3,000. to Hurricane Support through One Hour of Sharing. We also give to "America for Christ". We sent over 100 school kits to Church World Service 'Gifts of the Heart'. On Mother's Day a collection for Church World Service Blankets is taken. On the first Sunday of the month we receive food for the Community Food Pantry we host on the second and fourth Saturday from 10 to noon at our Iron Works Church. We adopt two families at Christmas, providing special gifts for family members as well as many donations of hats, mittens, scarves and toys, given first to the Gilmanton Community as needed and then to Toys for Tots in Laconia. In October we have a Pantry Walk/Roadside Cleanup event. People gather at Smith Meeting House and walk down Stone Road to the I.W. Church, cleaning the road as we go. People sponsor walkers with food items! We then have a delicious spaghetti supper prepared by our Mission Team. February,April,May,July,September and October we have Community Dinners that have been so well received. In June we have a Community Breakfast. Everyone is Welcome!!!
